My boyfriend decided to get me birdy, "formerly named Bill" as a christmas present. I've seen alot of dogs work and he is definitely one of my favorites, he will go through any cover... thorn bushes.. .feet of snow, just so he can point a bird for me. hes not much of a house pet even though i try to make him one ;) he is happiest in the field. hes got a great nose and personality, we competed in the Chukkar challenge and got 2nd place! for juniors!! he would have got first but i missed my shot ;) i just wanted to say thank you and keep up the good work.

Hi Shawn--Have not been in touch with you since I picked up Boomer in St. Louis on 7-19-06. Boomer is the best pointer I have ever had. Hunts hard and is so competitive. He never wants to quit. And also gets along wih other dogs! We have a lot of fun in the field. Thanks again!

Shawn, I can't say thank you enough. After purchasing so called "finished" dogs from several other kennels from all over the country I came across Shawn and Shady Meadows Gundogs. To say the least, I am excited; I have ended up with the dog of my dreams. I will never purchase a dog from anyone else. Thanks again Shawn.

I just wanted to Thank Shawn and Shady Meadows Gundogs for everything. This is a Class A operation. I couldn't say enough good things. We have one of their black GSP and a Crow's Little Joe Line Pup on the way. Shawn is a stand up guy, this guy knows his dogs and not only that he is one of the nicest guys that I have met and ever done business with. They stand by their word and take pride in their business. They have a client for life with me.
Thanks again Shawn,
Ryan

I am new to upland hunting and bird dogs, Shawn answered all of my questions, he came across as a very honest straight forward guy. I have the privilege of owning three finished English pointers from Shawn; they are everything he said they would be. Great dogs, they point and back from over 25yds. Great on the retrieve, it’s so exciting watching these dogs find birds that other dogs miss. Very glad I have dogs from Shady Meadows.

I purchased the Black/White or Roan female puppy out of Turbo and Lily yesterday from Steve. He told me just to send you an email as you had the papers on her in CA. I would like to let you know that as a manager with several employees, you are very lucky to have someone like Steve to oversee your operations. I had full intentions of taking a look at your pups and going on to look at some others. Steve came across as a very honest and straight forward person and took the time to answer all my questions and needless to say I left Shady Meadows with a puppy and didn't have to go any farther. It didn't hurt that the puppy now named Addison or Addie for short, had just the build and temperament I was looking for, but without Steve's honesty I would have done some more looking around. It means a lot to purchase something as important as a dog from someone you feel you can trust.

I purchased a little female "Jazz" out of Dan and Pam. She is turning out to be one fantastic dog. Her prey drive is literally unstoppable. She is 7 months and has already had quail, chuckar, pheasant, and huns, all wild. She just had her first water retrive, in front of a german wirehair, and last weekend she was hitting on pheasants at 60 yards. Thanks Shawn

Hi Shawn;
Greg Stafford here. I bought a pup from you back in June. From the litter of turbo and lucky from April 9th of this year.
I have been working with her whenever I can.
This past weekend, I was able to get her out an expose her to shotgun fire, a dead quail for the first time. She did pretty good. It was humorous to see her reaction to the quail when it landed in front of her for the 1st time. She was just sniffing it, pawing it, and just really wasn’t sure of herself right away. But by the 3 rd shot she knew that the bird was part of the fun, and she would fetch it, and would come to me on command. She has the beginnings of a good soft mouth!
The more exciting thing is that we actually got into a cubby of wild quall, when she first flushed them, she was NOT startled, she kept looking around trying to figure out what just happened, We kept working the fence line the birds were on, I flushed up a couple of single birds, and she would coming running over

Hi Shawn,
I am glad that things have started to settle out for you and the business! I just wanted to send you a brief update about, Addie - my 2 year old black roan GSP from Woody x Kirwin that you kept for about a year for me. She is doing absolutely fabulous! There are no negative words that could ever be used to describe her. She never ceases to amaze me with her ability to pick up and learn new commands/behaviors. Her hunt drive is impeccable - she has a solid point, very stylish and will work, work, work. There is no "off" button with her! She makes my job as a dog trainer very enjoyable! The compliments she receives at events/lessons with me is unbelievable. Last year, while she was at the academy I attended to become a dog trainer in TX, my instructors were amazed at how much work ethic she had. She mastered the narcotics test with a 100% - nailed each 'hit' absolutely perfectly... all she could care about is to get that darn ball thrown, hah! I included some recent picture

We named our puppy Roc, because he likes to chew on rocks. Go figure. Yesterday I was going to work with Roc on the prey development training exercise. I put one of the quail in a small cardboard box and put it in the back of my explorer. Then I let Roc out, he went in the grass over next to the explorer and used the bathroom. I had walked over to the garage turned around and called Roc. If I hadn't seen it with my on eyes I'm not sure I would have believed what happened next. He started towards me, and when he passed under the explorer where I had just put the bird he stopped dead on point. I mean dead on Point, his head up, front foot up, and tail straight up. He held for about 5 seconds then he shivered and released. Amazing stuff!

To all bird dog owners. i purchased a crows little joe female from Shawn August 1st. Only to mention he delivered this amazing animal to Sioux Falls, thanks. The second nite i had her, she came into our living room and just happened to honor a point from a training video i was watching. As of october 10th i have had her on wild birds in west central Minnesota. This dog is a perfect foot hunting dog with all the focus and desire ever. With 95% of the crops still in place my little girl was a pointing machine. By far the best purchase ive made. thanks to shawn for a great dog and all his help. The birds in west central minnesota are in big troubl this fall.

I wish Shawn the best of successin his new adventure.That said I wish to introduce a man that I believe every dog trainer in the country could learn from.His name is Steve Herring.I meet steve when I was serching for help with my pointer .She had been abused by a past owner and had gone into a shell.She was not a candidate for typical training.Steve has taken time to teach me how to teach her and with his help she has turned into a fine dog. I now take the honor in calling Steve friend.A better trainer and human you will not find.
